Pure Edge for Linux

For us Non-Commissioned Officers or high-speed specialists, that are Linux users, half of our responsibilities is to properly counsel Soldiers. I hate having to boot up to my Windows OS and pause everything I am doing on my Linux session because I need to use an Army Specific program to write the counseling statement. After a few weeks of research, I finally managed how to get Pure Edge to work on my Linux system. As a good professional NCO that I am, I am willing to share this with you and I expect you to share this with fellow Linux users that are in the ranks.

Notes: You will need Pure Edge (Download from NCOSchool.com). (I have not been able to get Lotus Form Viewer to run in Linux.)

Installation Steps:

Let’s begin to install Wine. Wine is an Open Source Software for running Windows applications on other operating systems.

> sudo apt-get install wine

After installation completes, we will have to configure Wine to use a Windows DLL library that will allow us to edit the XFDL files.

> winecfg

Then perform the following steps using the images as guidance.

With that complete, all you have to do is install Pure Edge on your system and it should work perfectly. Try writing of a counseling form to see if the installation and configuration was successful.

Thanks for this, works beautifully. Just need to keep pressing on to get the CAC working so I can use ADLS and AKO/JKO at home :)
